Web 2.0?

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am working on launching a math teachers’ network, with the theme “Escape from the Textbook!”. People have suggested these options for sharing files and ideas: edWeb, Google Docs, Google Groups, Google Wave, LinkedIn, Ning, ProjectSpace, WikiSpaces. My Web site is also available — should that be helpful in some way. If you have ideas on this, or relevant experience, I’d love to hear from you!

At the same time, I’m hoping to organize quarterly half-day meetings in the Bay Area: spring, summer, fall 2010, followed by a conference at the Urban School in Feb 2011. The idea of the meetings and the conference would be to share approaches, compare notes, ask questions — on the theme of non-textbook lessons and the many related topics such as student-centered teaching, standards vs. differentiation, school politics and school change, etc.

Please get in touch if you’re interested in helping out!
