I will present an overview of the mathematics and pedagogy of function diagrams at the Winter Workshop of the Bay Area Circle for Teachers, on Saturday, January 26, in Jack London Square in Oakland, CA.
Function diagrams are also known as the parallel axes representation, and a computer version is sometimes called “dynagraph”. There’s a lot of interesting math and pedagogy there, and it covers a lot of ground: pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, dynamical systems, calculus, plus some teacher-level concepts. You can find out about function diagrams on my Web site, or if you’re in the Bay Area, by coming to the workshop.
To register (free, including lunch) and for more information on the rest of the day’s program and logistics, go to the BACT site.
